When I'm asked which country I would like to visit, Greece immediately
comes to mind. My little obsession with this land came when I was 16 years old,
through the film and musical Mamma Mia, as the landscape of the Skopelos island captivated me, and every time I watched the film I imagined in my mind the
perfect plan to meet my real father before I got married, while singing and
dancing of course, walking along the beaches of the western Aegean Sea.

This obsession increased when I started studying architecture, because,
during a course in Classical Architecture, I was shown the civilisations that
developed around the Mediterranean Sea, and to my surprise (actually, it's no
surprise because absolutely everyone who enters to study architecture has a
notion of what I'm going to say next, so whatever) the Greeks and Romans
appeared, who played a pivotal role in developing a culture of engineering,
architecture, art, science and philosophy that has endured to this day, which
even historians have framed as classical civilisations, giving an initial
foothold to the development of western architecture. Iconic, honestly.

| Caryatids of Atenas |
Studying the urban plans and buildings makes me want to be there. Seeing
the Acropolis in Athens, taking a selfie with the Caryatids and then posting it
on my Instagram story is a fantasy. Touring the New Acropolis Museum would be
an archaeological pleasure, and then heading to Mykonos island to sunbathe on
the beach and listen to ABBA with my headphones is a dream, I will have to live
sometime before I leave this world.

I love Mamma Mia! I remember that I was also struck by the morphology of the city when I saw it. Greece is a very beautiful country in terms of architecture. I hope you can visit it one day my friend!
ResponderEliminarWhat a coincidence I also chose the place I would visit because of that movie, I always thought the island was Santorini but I was wrong. Anyway I think the greek islands in general are a very good destination to visit!
